Aira Remote Visual Interpretation App Training Now Available
RWJBarnabas Health now offers a free resource to support independence and access for patients, visitors, employees, volunteers, providers and vendors: the Aira Remote Visual Interpretation App.
What is Aira?
Aira connects people who are blind or have low vision with a trained visual interpreter through their smartphone camera. Interpreters provide real-time guidance in any environment — helping users navigate our facilities and their daily lives with greater confidence. The app is available in both English and Spanish.
Why It Matters
Providing Aira across all acute-care facilities and Medical Group locations is part of our commitment to creating a welcoming, supportive environment for everyone we serve.
What You Can Do
- Complete the Training: All RWJBarnabas Health employees are encouraged to review the Aira overview presentation on Symplr to become familiar with the app and help advocate for its use.
- Support Our Community: Frontline teams, including Security and Patient Access Associates, have already been trained to assist those using Aira. With more employees trained, we can ensure every person who enters our facilities feels supported.
Get Started
- Download Aira from the iOS App Store or Google Play.
- Visit The Bridge to log in to your LMS and access the training.
